We were recording all weekend long at the LA Design Festival in downtown Los Angeles. Sitting with Russ is always a great opportunity to learn new things about the business side of design and following is a conversation that does not disappoint. Russ travels the world in search of new products to offer the Southern California design and architecture community. In addition to traveling to the factories to see how materials are sourced and made, he meets the craftsmen who make these products. In many cases, as you will hear, there are multi-generational friendships as well. He actually grew up with many of the executives running these companies. Through this philosophy, Russ also believes strongly in developing thought leadership in the industry and with those in the trade. This is how he does it.
